Keep Up With What’s Happening Here On The Farm...

A mix of information about the countryside, the farming year and snippets of family life here at Great Tre-rhew… sign up for our newsletter and keep in touch.

We promise we won’t overload your inbox, we’ll never share your details and we’ll guard them with our life... or at least Lass will, she’s very good at keeping an eye on stuff!

Welcome to Kate’s Country School...
come on in!

If you’re looking for friendly, fun-filled, fact-packed courses on rural skills and animal husbandry - even a great team-building or group experience - then you’ve found the right place.

Join us on our traditional, family run, mixed farm in Monmouthshire... perhaps best known for being the BBC’s first Lambing Live location, but also featured in The Baker (with Damien Lewis), BBC’s The One Show, Will it Snow and Great British Weather; no surprise it’s in demand really, it’s a very lovely, very unique, very special place.

We promise you a high-energy, highly informative day; full of real insider insights, a few ‘tricks of the trade’ and great hands on experiences... bring your wellies and prepare to get mucky!

For all ages and abilities… our courses cater for complete novices, smallholders and even ‘farming folk’; whether you’ve got an entire farm, a few acres or just a garden; you’ll get hands-on experience, answers to your nagging questions and practical hints & tips to make life a little easier.

Professional, qualified tuition… from Jim and me in person, supported by a few family members; it’s very hands-on, very down-to-earth, with lots of learning and plenty of laughs too.

On a real, working farm… unlike many other courses, you’ll get to be part of life on a 300 acre mixed farm, amongst our sheep, cattle, pigs, chickens and even guard-geese Ronnie and Reggie – their honk is worse than their bite!

Limited numbers... and lunch round our kitchen table.  By keeping numbers down, we can make sure you get exactly what you need from your day with us; it’s more personal, more focused and more friendly this way.

On-going support… you’ll have a comprehensive information pack to take home and once you’ve been on a course, you can call or email us for advice and support whenever you need (daylight hours please!); we’re here to help.

So whether you’re looking for start-up help and ideas, wanting to brush-up your existing skills or perhaps learn a completely new one, there’s plenty to choose from…

Lambing  -  Sheep Husbandry  -  A Taste Of The Goodlife  -  Shearing -  Bespoke Team Building & Group Days  -  Traditional Cider Making  -  Preserving Made Easy!
