Hi there,
My family (half of them) live in Aber, and I have grown up in Northern Ireland. Due to the passing of my granda very suddenly, the yard has run into disrepair. I was, and am really the only one of the children/grandchildren to be interested in working the land. Of the portion attached to the house and not rented long term to a local dairy herd, there’s 17 acres. I was wondering, do you do courses that are longer than a day to cover some of the basics? The farm previously kept cattle, but as I’m on my own, I’d rather work with sheep as they’re the ones I’ve had more experience with over the last few years.
The only things I haven’t done are lambing and shearing. Usually as they were ‘not girls jobs’ so my shepherd friends didn’t see the need to drag me up the mountain to their biars.
Thanks for taking a moment for this email. It’s a bit random and out of the blue but something is pulling at me, akin to the string attaching Rochester to his little Miss Eyre (can you tell I have a BA in English)
Yours,
Nesta
